GE Medical Systems is the established world's leader in MRI systems. The GE OpenSpeed™ system, a high-field Open-MRI system, has recently been brought into Advanced MRI. The state-of-the-art MRI system, radiologist MRI specialty training, nationally acclaimed image quality and center's warm atmosphere, have made Advanced MRI a National GE Showplace Site. Billings, MT (April 6, 2006) - The Montana Board of Research & Commercialization, Department of Commerce has awarded $534,000 to BioPred™ (Computational Bioactivity Prediction Company, LLC.). This funding will aid research that targets the search for agents that will detect, prevent, and treat neurological diseases. The developed technology will later be applied to other neurological disease applications such as Alzheimer’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and development of functional medical imaging contrast agents. Prior BioPred™ research was in part funded by the Montana Department of Commerce and the Center for Structural and Functional Neuroscience, University of Montana and Montana State University. BioPred was founded in 2001 by Timothy Nagel (Advanced MRI, Billings, MT) and David Opitz (University of Montana, Missoula, MT). Nagel holds a research faculty appointment to the Center for Structural & Functional Neuroscience (CSFN) and Opitz holds a faculty appointment in Computer Science at the University of Montana. BioPred’s development represents collaboration and commercialization of technology developed with the Montana University System.
