Receiving a MRI exam is easy. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled exam to provide patient health and insurance information. We participate in insurance plans, happily bill your insurance company, and offer substantial discounts. For the exam, you may wear our scrubs or a comfortable sweat suit from home. Individuals may accompany you into the MRI room in their own clothing, but must remove loose metal objects (jewelry, pens, etc.).
Patients having a head MRI should not wear eye makeup on the day of the exam. Patients with cardiac pacemakers, defibrillators, stimulators, some brain aneurysm clips, or non-removable infusion pumps, may not have MRI exams. Please inform your doctor and our staff if you have had metal or medical devices surgically implanted. If you are pregnant or think you could be, notify your physician and our staff because such exams are generally postponed until after delivery. Some exams may require that a contrast agent be injected into a vein.
For the exam, you will lie on a padded table with the scanned body part placed into the central region of the Open-MRI system. You will hear tapping sounds while each set of images is obtained. Remaining still insures the best quality images. Let us and your doctor know if pain or discomfort will impede your ability to lie still. If so, a prior prescribed pain medication may be helpful. A relaxed posture is best and some movement between sequences is acceptable. During exams, patients often fall asleep or relax listening to the radio or a favorite CD on our music system. We assure you that the staff at our locally-owned and operated facility will do everything we can to make your MRI examination a pleasant experience.
